National Administrative Office for Enforcement

The basic responsibility of the National Administrative Office for Enforcement is to take care of the operational preconditions of the enforcement authorities and to develop the enforcement service. This includes, for example, management by result of the local enforcement offices, handling matters relating to the premises, maintenance and development of the data systems of the enforcement service, as well as training of the personnel of the local enforcement offices.

The National Administrative Office for Enforcement is led by Director Juhani Toukola. The tasks and responsibilities of the Office are handled by three units: an Administrative Unit, a Legal Unit and a Development and Supervision Unit.

The National Administrative Office for Enforcement handles complaints concerning the activities of the enforcement authorities and answers to citizens' letters. In addition, the National Administrative Office for Enforcement represents the State in claims for damages which pertain to the activities of the enforcement authorities.

Individual decisions on enforcement matters cannot be appealed against to the National Administrative Office for Enforcement. Instead, decisions can be appealed to a District Court.
